For a few hours
Sitting schemes can give you the opportunity to take a short break for a few hours. Allowing you to do many things whilst the person you care for stays at home - including:- Do some domestic chores or some gardening
- Do some shopping
- Have a bath
- Have a hair cut and/or pamper yourself
- Take a little exercise, like a walk
- Talk uninterrupted with family or friends on the phone
- Visit with some friends
- Watch some television or read a book
- Or just get out for a few hours.
Local voluntary groups such as Crossroads provide sitting services.

Crossroads also provide additional respite care through social day care clubs and groups for the person with care needs to attend.
