Social Care Dementia Common Core Principles Workshops:
Workshop for health and social care managers working in integrated settings, Wednesday 28th March - Brighton
Workshop aimed at health and social care professionals who are working across both health and social care settings.
Workshop for social care managers and training leads - Thursday 29th March, Horsham
This workshop is aimed at social care managers and training leads who want to support their teams to deliver high quality care to people with dementia. The content of the workshop is based on good practice workforce development and utilises the good practice outlined in the Common Core Principles for supporting people with dementia. Good practice in working with young people (added 27.1.12)
The Big Lottery Fund has produced seven Good Practice guides for organisations working with young people, based on projects it has supported. Titles include Encouraging active citizenship, Actively involving young people and Working with young carers. Download the guides from: www.biglotteryfund.org.uk

Workforce Development Fund (added 10.6.11)
This is a new funding stream from the Department of Health disseminated by Skills for Care. Its aim is to support the ongoing professional development of staff across the adult social care sector through vocational qualifications. Care Training Consortium (CTC)
Provides training and support needs for the independent care sector in West Sussex. The CTC is a not-for-profit employer-led and learner centred organisation. It aims to provide a single point of access and will act as a broker to secure training and funding to support the independent care sector in West Sussex; and it seeks to support quality provision to all service users through its commitment to care sector staff development. The overall aim of the Care Training Consortium is to support the independent care sector of West Sussex to meet the training requirements of the National Minimum Care Standards. Social Care TV online training (added 22.2.11)
Social Care TV offers an innovative online training courses for health and social care providers of all types. The courses are easy to use and are not dull presentations of facts and figures; they are courses intended to help your colleagues learn and put that learning into practice. All courses include free certification and cost from under £3 per course. Topics covered include: Challenging behaviour; Communication (verbal and written); Dementia care; Bereavement and End of Life; Food and Hand Hygiene; Infection Control; Mental Capacity; Person-Centred Care; Role of the Care Worker; Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and much more. Carers UK provides courses for health and social care professionals, advice workers, employers, lawyers and other professionals who work with carers.
