For a day

Day care refers to a short break where the person you care for spends several hours or perhaps the whole day at a day centre or day hospital. Often these breaks offer activities for the person you care for which he or she may find both fun and rewarding. They will also often offer the opportunity to socialise in a safe, secure and friendly environment.

Some day centres cater for people with a specific disability or health condition, such as dementia, learning difficulties or mental health problems, whereas others may cater for people with a range of needs.

www.crossroads.org.uk - provides trained carers support workers to come into your home and take over the responsibility for the person with care needs, to enable you to have a break. - Crossroads services provide trained carers support workers to come into your home and take over the responsibility for the person with care needs, to enable you to have a break. In West Sussex, there are three Crossroads schemes covering the county. Each of the Crossroads services also provides additional respite care through social day care clubs and groups for the person with care needs to attend:
