Going away without the person you care for

Homecare refers to both skilled help in your home from visiting nurses, able to provide some medical care, as well as other staff who provide more general care - both allowing you some time off the caring role and allowing the person you care for to stay at home.

In some cases staff provide night time care or regular weekly visits. These would be by agreement between yourself and the service provider. The main ways of accessing these stopovers is via the Social Services and will require an assessment of need. You may also be able to get help from local voluntary and private organisations.
