Choosing the Right Care Service
The Commission for Social Care Inspection has published a booklet to help people looking for a social care service. It explains the role of social services and provides an introduction to means-testing for care. It also explains how direct payments work, what National Minimum Standards are and what to do if poor quality care is provided or if abuse is suspected. The free booklet is available from The booklet local councils, libraries, Doctors’ surgeries, Citizens’ Advice Bureaux and hospital Patient Advice and Liaison services (PALS), or you can order a copy direct from the CSCI order line: 0870 240 7535
