Your doctor

  • Most appropriate Carers Network organisation and local Carers support group
  • possibly a Carers Support Worker
  • Patients Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)
  • Counselling services

Carers in Practice Partnership
Initiative in partnership between the Royal College of General Practitioners and The Princess Royal Trust for Carers which provides the carer with the support they need from their GP or health centre. The Partnership is also offering guidance to GPs to help them better understand carers' caring responsibilities.
To achieve this the Partnership has produced a leaflet Information about a patient's health and consent. At the back of the leaflet is a form for Carers and their Cared for to read and sign if they both wish for the carer to be able to receive information from their GP about the health and medical conditions of the person being cared for. The leaflet is available from GP surgeries or can be downloaded from www.carers.org/data/files/carers-in-practice-lft-1828.pdf
