West Sussex Carers Support Services (formerly West Sussex Carers Network)
The West Sussex Carers Support Services (formerly West Sussex Carers Network - WSCN) is a consortium of voluntary agencies who work to support carers - Carers Support Services in the regions: Regis, Chichester and Rural, North and Mid Sussex, and Worthing and District. All the carers on the members' databases are also members of the WSCSS. The consortium is a member of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers (PRTC).
The WSCSS meet regularly with staff from Health and West Sussex Social and Caring Services to discuss issues of policy, practice, funding and strategy. This means that there is an exchange of information and expertise and joint working wherever possible.
Together WSCSS provide information on respite care, entitlement to local services and benefits, as well as offer the opportunity to talk to other people who are also caring for another person. Carers services and carers groups sometimes have a social side and will organise speakers and visits.
Some carers support groups focus on carers who are caring for someone with a specific disability or condition, or a particular age group such as children or older people. Others have members who are caring for people with a wide range of disabilities.
